There are 5 modules in this course:

1. What is the purpose of a research proposal?

In this module, you learn how to use a proposal to ‘sell’ your project to those in power and how to cover the merits of the researcher, the research question, and proposed methods.

2. Before you start writing your proposal

To write a proposal, you will need to work out a clearly articulated research question and a general research plan. This module takes you through key preparation considerations and how to articulate each proposal element.

3. How can I write a winning proposal?

This module looks at what it takes to writing a winning proposal. You will learn to write purposefully, while following any guidelines to the letter. Research proposals are often high stakes documents, so this course looks at how to be prepared, logical, and concise.

4. Writing each section of a proposal

This module covers the sections likely to be required in your proposal, what needs to be included in each, and how to write the different elements of a proposal.

5. How do I overcome obstacles?

This module teaches how to be knowledgeable, confident, and strategic in overcoming obstacles to effective proposal writing. The obstacles discussed include proposed research methods not fitting proposal guidelines and the use of evolving or emergent methods.
