1. Before you begin your project
Planning your project helps you to have direction right from the outset. It helps you to plan for some of the hurdles you may face. A good plan is therefore carefully considered and bespoke to you. This module looks at how to develop an organized approach and personalized plan from the very beginning, before you start the project. It sets clear, realistic objectives with creative and inspiring activities to help steer you towards your project aims, avoiding pitfalls you may encounter on your way.
2. What does a good research project plan look like?
Mapping our your research journey with carefully planned ideas for each stage provides a clear vision for your project. It acts as a signpost for you to feel in control during each stage. Without this, your project may remain unfocused. This module looks at developing a research road map to reflect the time you plan to spend, both actively and reflectively, with your research.
3. How do I avoid procrastination?
Most of us fall victim to procrastination when working on a project and it’s tough to escape it, but this module will offer some suggestions on how to overcome this obstacle. Having clear strategies in place that work for you is key to planning a successful project.
4. What tools and resources can help my planning?
Planning a large, academic project can be a little daunting, but there are so many different tools and resources available to take advantage of. This module identifies some downloadable apps, programs, and adaptive technology to enhance your planning practice and increase productivity and efficiency. The module also covers paper-based activities and how to use tools such as lists, mind maps, and colour-coding. Try to be open to trying new resources! You never know, you may just find a good fit for you. Remember, planning does not have to be tedious; efficiency is key!
5. Who can support me to bring my plan together?
There is an abundance of help out there, you just need to know where to look - and who to look for. In this module, you will be encouraged to look beyond tutors and reach out to your academic and social communities. You will learn how to use and obtain feedback and check you are on the right path.
6. How do I stay on track?
Balancing social, academic, and professional life can be tough - especially with the added pressure of starting an academic project. This module covers strategies to help you set targets for successful action planning. The module covers effective ways to carefully plan your calendar, mapping out the days and months.
