writing a dissertation

Writing a dissertation isn’t an easy job, even for the more experienced students. There are a lot of details, research, methodology, academic writing, and a lot more research.

SAGE Campus compiles all skills needed to work on your project from start to finish. In addition, we provide you with learner pathways to guide you through the courses. Today we will talk about the ‘learn skills to write a winning dissertation’ pathway and its five courses to guide you through your project.

five courses to help you with your dissertation

This pathway will show you an overview of the dissertation journey. Breaking down the different elements of a dissertation, you will be given examples and strategies to structure and finalise a high-quality thesis, from choosing the appropriate method to conduct research to interpreting data and presenting your findings, as well as exploring the ethical considerations involved in writing a dissertation. Examples in the courses are drawn from across the social, health, and applied sciences so that applicability is assured.

  1. Critical Thinking: An online course: this is a favourite amongst students and faculty members. 2. Critical Reading and Writing: after mastering your critical thinking skills, it’s time to work on your reading and writing. By Dr. Eric Addae-Kyeremeh, this is a great beginner course for any academic level, and it teaches reading strategies to evaluate and question written and visual texts. The course will also build your confidence in structuring a critical writing piece, spelling out arguments and integrating evidence.

  3. Conduct a Literature Review: this mandatory chapter of every dissertation will set the pace for your project and show your knowledge and understanding of the academic literature on your topic of choice. By Dr. Robert Thomas, this course will guide you through the entire process of preparing a literature review, selecting and analyzing existing literature and structuring and writing a quality literature review.

  4. Do Your Interview: not sure which is the most suitable research method for your project? If you need to discover people’s thoughts, feelings, knowledge or experiences, this is the course for you.
