SAGE CAMPUS Privacy NOTICE

 

 The purpose of this Privacy Notice is to inform you, prior to using the service, exactly how you can expect Sage to process the personal information that Sage Campus collects about you.

Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable living individual. As your personal data enters Sage Publishing, we take care to ensure that we handle your data respectfully.

Sage Campus may collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Personal identifiers

    First Name, Surname, email address, university.

  • Meta data (information about how you interact with the platform and the courses you take)

    Login activity, activity report.

  • Online activity (information about how you engage with services or products supported by our partners)

    Web host engagement, comms engagement.

Sage Campus will not collect any special category data about you e.g., health data or ethnic origins.

Ways in which SAGE may process SAGE Campus user data

When you sign up to Sage Campus we will collect your personal data in the following ways:

         i. Indirectly via the relevant higher education institution to confirm user identity, to enable you to access the platform and its resources.

       ii. Directly from you as the user, as you provide details to create and adjust settings for your user account.

      iii. In a recurrent manner as the system records information about the way each user engages with the platform.

      iv. Lastly, from third parties, such as web hosting providers and email service providers to deliver our products, services and communications. Our service providers may also provide us with additional information about you. This could include details of content that you have viewed or requested through their websites, or details of which email communications from us you viewed or clicked on. 

Why we process your personal data?

In most cases Sage Campus will process your personal data as a result of an agreement it has entered into with a higher education institution, to provide users with access to Sage Publishing academic resources. We will also process your data if you work for a higher education institution that has asked us to set up an account for you as a staff user. Sage Publishing relies on ‘legitimate interests’ as the lawful basis to process personal data of Sage Campus users.

Personal data about your use of the platform will be accessible to your institution and to Sage Publishing employees who are responsible for maintaining the platform.

Sage may analyse personal data collected to improve user experience, or to make changes to the interface of the platform.

How long do we keep personal data?

We keep information about you for 4 years after you have last accessed your account. We will then securely delete your information from our data systems unless you request deletion of your personal data within the retention period.

Information about how you have used your account may be subject to cleansing, by removing personal identifiers that could relate this data back to you, records may then be aggregated for analytical purposes.

How do we store your personal data?

If you are a UK or EU resident your personal information will be stored within the EU. Sage Campus uses cloud storage to securely store your personal data.

Your data protection rights

The UK/EU GDPR gives you the right to provides the following rights for individuals:

  • The right to be informed about how Sage Publishing handles your personal data.

  • The right of access, allowing you to request copies of your personal data.

  • The right to rectification, allowing you to request changes to your personal data.

  • The right to erasure, by request.

  • The right to restrict processing, by request that the use of your data is limited or prohibited.

  • The right to data portability, by requesting the transfer of your personal data to other organisations.

  • The right to object to the use of your data

  • Rights to restrict to automated decision making and profiling.

You won’t be required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. Your ability to exercise certain rights may depend on the location you live in. We endeavour to process requests in a timely manner, in line with the requirements of the relevant laws or jurisdiction.

You may also wish to make a personal data related request to your higher education institution, as certain information may be controlled by your institution which we are unable to address.
